A Day At The Palms, Gurgaon

The information in this post might be outdated

There is no dearth of private members-only club in Gurgaon. Either there is too long a waiting period for those who can afford them, or the quality is unacceptable to those who seek value. But is there an alternative? A club available for new members, and one that offers quality {worthy of a private club} service and is also economically viable?

We checked out The Palms {with a member} in Gurgaon at Sushant Lok for a potential contender, and here is what we have to say.

First Impression

A pathway with fountains leads to the main lobby for members check-ins, concierge and other services. Contemporary and chic, The Palms scores well on its decor. The open spaces in the property are inviting and make you forget about the noise of the city. We were admitted as a guest and started out to explore the place.

Host Of Activities

As we followed our host, the first stop was the Purple Room. An entertainment center with pool tables, gaming consoles and a separate play room for kids, we found it apt for some friendly competition among ourselves. We were also delighted to find out about the full-size squash court that was waiting to embarrass us, but we readily gave that a miss.

Pool Of Joy

Just the idea of playing had us break into a sweat, which led us to the pool, and we love pools. Sipping on ale on a sunny afternoon in blue waters is the textbook definition of a day well spent, as far as we’re concerned.

Eat.Eat.Repeat

Swimming makes for a hungry stomach, so we headed to check out the in-house dining options. The deli/bakery/cafe is an all-day dining restaurant that serves coffee, pizzas and gourmet desserts. We, however, were starving and opted for some good ol’ desi cuisine. We’re delighted to say that the Senses restaurant, serving Indian cuisine with a twist, culled our cravings with its scrumptious offerings.

You can check out the Fusion for oriental cuisine, as well as the very-interesting English-styled pub called the Browns English Pub. All the restaurants are nominally priced yet offer high quality, fine-dining experience.

Celebrate And Learn

After our lunch, we headed to the lawns. Casually strolling though the grass, we realized that the place was quite big for being in middle of the city, and felt blissfully isolated from the world outside. It’s big enough for a marriage occasion, a business meeting or a cosy event like a birthday celebration.

We found out about the Mahesh Bhupati Tennis Academy there, training young tennis stars along with organising various events in the field of theater, dance and music for them, as well as culinary experiences that the club organises for its members.

Also overlooking the pool is the unisex salon called the Vue, so you can indulge in some body massage by the in-house masseuse or get groomed by experts before heading out for an evening party.

Our Say

We found The Palms to be rich in experience; with quality service at convenient pricing, this may be the private members-only club you might have been looking for all this while.

The Palms Country Town & Country Club membership is available in three, fixed-types plans; INR 29,500 for one year, INR 99,500 for five years and INR 1,49,500 for ten years.
