Lowdown On The Ambience

Cosy is the word that springs to mind when you think about this nook on the busy Hennur Main Road. Wooden tables, benches and walls add warmth to the space while bright, steel chairs add colour.

Pork Up!

For good or bad, we Bangaloreans tend to judge a restaurant serving Coorg cuisine by its pork fry. And the Pandhi Bhartad at this restaurant ticks all the right boxes. The chunks of pork come all fried up in a spice-filled coating and the tangy flavours of the Kachampuli too does its bit. We recommend packing a plate or two of this alone to down with a cold one at home {they don’t have a bar, you see}

However, we found that these unabashed flavours that made the Bhartad a winner, went sorely missing when we tried the Pandhi Curry. While the pieces of meat were generous and there was no lack of spice, the curry lacked real punch and wasn’t a stellar accomplice to the rich Ghee Rice that was topped with fried onions and raisins.

The Proof’s In The Pudding

Another highlight of our meal was  the noolputtu {string hoppers} the came trooping along with a chicken curry. The soft noolputtu simply disappeared in our mouths the minute we soaked it in that coconut-infused curry and popped it in our mouths. Their Tender Coconut Pudding, however, stole the show. We got a cup filled with the smooth pudding that made us sing with glee thanks to the sweetness of the tender coconut.

So We’re Thinking…

This one’s a welcome addition to an already spectacular list of Coorg restaurants in town. If you prefer to sample a good chunk of the menu, in one go, we recommend that you drop by for their hearty weekend, lunch buffets. However, a reservation is recommended since the space is small, and hence there might be some waiting involved. The restaurant is listed on Swiggy and offers lunch combos that make for very satisfying meals.
