Old Delhi May Get Its Trams Back After Almost 100 Years!

There are big big hopes for revival of the trams that were common sight in purani dilli eons ago. The Shahjanabad Redevlopment Corporation is going to assess if the trams could be brought back to Old Delhi, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Throwback Time

The entire idea was revived after it was scraped some two years ago due to infrastructural costs coming out to be too high. This time around, the SRDC plans to do a comparative study on the applied cost, with a thorough analysis of the traffic around the area before deciding whether to approve it or not.

The tram service is expected to connect the stretch linking Red Fort with Fatehpur Masjid.

So We’re Saying…

The last trams ran through the streets of Delhi back in 1908, more than a 100 years ago; really keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
