More Sin Than Sainthood
Unlike a lot of bars that focus on whipping up a killer cocktail and don’t necessarily knock it out of the park with their food, Saints N Sinners realises that a bad starter can put a damper on even the best-shaken gimlet. Which is why their food isn’t basic, it tries… and it succeeds.
The USP of this not-in-Cyberhub liquor locale is that they don’t sweat too much trying to be out of the box. Their modus operandi is simple; do it old-school but do it well. Their limited {but solid} range of food stands testament to that; the bacon-wrapped chicken tikka in particular is to die for. Other standouts include the Peri Peri zucchini fries, BBQ chicken wings and Khum {Mushroom} Galauti Crostini.
But my heart {and stomach} gravitated most toward the rack of lamb. This was simply because I really didn’t expect a self-proclaimed ‘bar first’ to have their game so strong with a not-uncomplicated dinner number like this one. The other happy surprise was the apple pie, served unconventionally in twisted-top parcels of thin pastry, rife with a flavourful, cinnamon-infused apple; much more of a fine-dining presentation than a classic, back-to-basics bar.
The cocktails are simple, but well-mixed. A gin-based concoction is a good bet here, because the bartender certainly knows his way with it. The whiskey sour isn’t the world’s best, but a potent {but non-gag-reflex-inducing} LIIT compensates for it.
So, We're Saying...
Order the sweeter cocktails {they’re just better} and definitely stay for dessert.
