Namma ooru is set to get a bigger lung space, bigger than Cubbon Park and Lalbagh, we hear and we're beaming! According to reports doing the rounds, the Garden City will have a newer, bigger garden, spread across a whopping 648 acres at Jaraka Bande (JB) Kaval near Yelahanka. Expect greenery for as far as the eye can see - large trees, shrubs and flowering plants all round, and for this spot to become a sweet getaway for anybody in town.
According to sources, the whole goal behind developing this new park is to fight the pollution Bangalore is reeling under, to expand green space and restore the charm of what was once a real 'Garden City'. The Horticulture and Forest departments will be working together on this project and have specifically picked JB Kaval because it already has 32 hectares of reserve forest (the only forest reserve open to the public), including a tree park that’s been around since 2015. Together with being bigger, this park has different species of trees and herbs that could pique the interest of environmentalists and nature lovers. There is no set date to when this might culminate, but we can't wait to spend our weekends picnicking here, soon, hopefully!
