This Exciting Festival Gives You The Chance To Explore Birds From The Middle Of The Arabian Sea

What Is It?

Karnataka is hosting its fourth Bird Festival. And this time the action is unfolding in the coastal town of Mangaluru between February 9 and 11. Called the Hakki Habba, the event will see experts in the field host talks, and then, of course, you get to sail out onto the sea, to catch the birds in their natural habitat — the sky.

Why Should I Go?

After successful runs in Ranganathittu, Dandeli and Bellary, the Hakki Habba, the State’s bird festival, is now all set to unfold in Mangalore. Taking place in the second week of February, the festival is offering bird lovers the chance to discover the state’s vibrant wildlife. Across two days, you will be able to participate in a host of activities, including interacting with experts and photographers, attending talks by leading professionals, and browsing through an exhibition. But the highlight of your trip is sure to be the bird watching experience in the middle of the Arabian Sea! For the first time, bird watchers will be able to traverse the deep, blue waters to spot sea birds. You will also get to hit estuary and riverine trails for avian life. And explore the towns famous coastline for winged beauties.

While the event will be inaugurated at the coastal city’s Town Hall, the action will unfold at the Pilikula River Lodge that sits at the edge of the Gurupura River. Festival organisers are also offering stay options for the event. You can either park yourself at the Pilikula River Lodge itself for about INR 2,600 per person {breakfast and dinner are included}. Or if you prefer a more luxurious stay, then, you can book a room at the Ginger Hotels for INR 4,700 per person. This fee will also include a festival kit and the entry charges.
