13 Degree North on the East Coast Road, is the place to visit for plant collectors. From INR 5 to INR 50,000 (say what?), there’s a plant for you quite literally across budgets!
This ECR Plant Nursery Has Succulents For Your Room & Exotic Plants To Gawk At
What Makes It Awesome
One step into the nursery and you feel like you’re already in nature’s lap. We were welcomed by huge Palms and ingrown variegated Bamboos as we stepped into a rather unfamiliar world of so much greenery!
To begin with take a walk in their shed, filled with hanging and indoor plants like Areca palm that you can buy at prices starting at INR 50. While the picture perfect shed hosts over 50 varieties of plants, to our left is a lot more of exotic greenery to indulge in.
Now, who doesn’t love a Bonsai? These miniature trees growing in containers are rare and 13 Degree North has got some for us. Mostly priced high, Bonsais here can go up to INR 50,000! We probably can’t afford to buy the Sapota or Brazilian Rain Tree Bonsais but they sure are pretty to look at.
As we get lost in a world of shrubs, we also stumble upon some antique pots. The rustic clay pots available in several sizes and shapes, are worth a buy if you want to replace your old ones.
Apart from large Plumeria (flowering plants) and Ficus (woody plants) species, what intrigued us the most, were the Cacti. Starting from INR 50 (and going up to INR 5,600), plants like the Euphorbia (many of which are succulents) and Agave are perfect to jazz up that incomplete corner in your room whether you live in an apartment or hostel. If you’re into exotic Cacti, then don’t forget to check out their Pelecyphora Aselliformis Cristata (which almost resembles a brain!), a rare species, which is not up for grabs, but only for your eyes.
Also, get the ultimate guide to a green wall installation in this nursery. Two of their green wall projects are currently on display and this would be the best time to visit.
