We'd like some biryani but what would go better on the sides? Chicken 65 or a plate of prawn masala? To keep our confusion at bay, we found Chettinese restaurant in Anna Nagar serving some yum combos. As you enter the place, it isn't as amusing as the whiff of food from the kitchen that catches you. The black wall is covered with doodles and writing! Our favourite was how each table had glass bottles with quotes written on them.
The menu is no normal A4 sized paper but one that cut in shape of a bottle. After all, nothing normal really sells. .Besides that, it is the Chettinese food that stole all the attention. Our first go-to combo was chicken biryani along with chicken drumstick at just INR 150. The drumstick was just right with its crisp coating and juicy inside. And who has ever had a problem with biryani? For a vegetarian option, you could easily choose mushroom fried rice and gobi Manchurian combo at INR 130. They have prawns and fish to choose as well!
With each of their combo, Chettinese gives a complementary goli soda. Downing the spices with a chilled soda couldn't feel better. You can choose a lemon, blueberry or a rose favoured one. Just ask for your favourite. They have stand alone starters and soups to order as well. We went for normal egg podimas at INR 30and Chettinese 65. You can choose chicken, prawns, paneer, mushroom or gobi as your base for Chettinese 65. Some budget steaming food couldn't make for a better lunch!
