Make friends with Agent Jack, bid on drinks, binge on fusion food and dance to some club music. We are totally loving Agent Jack that's finally opened in Chennai.

What Makes It Awesome

The piercing eyes of Agent Jack will lure you to the new watering hole that has opened where Illusions formerly was. The concept of Agent Jack is pretty cool - download the app and start biding on the drinks. Agent Jack, who will review your bid will either give you a thumbs up or politely refuse. Beware, Jack could also pull your leg. G Gireshkumar one of the owners of the place tells us that Jack will soon be responding in Tamil. Expect machan, mama, and famous movie dialogues, too. D Arun and Vasisth are the other two owners of the place. Customers will be categorised under five levels based on the frequency of the order. The more you order, the more you are entitled to better deals and offers. How exciting does that sound? The owners have retained the sophistication of the pub thanks to the comfy seating arrangements. We also found ourselves staring at the villains like Thanos, Ultron, and Loki who are diligently thrown behind bars.

Nikhil Moturi, the food consultant at Agent Jack got us all excited about the menu that typically rides on the concept of fusion. We tried their paneer tikka with peri peri sauce that was spicy and literally melted in our mouths. Expect dishes like Paneer Porichadhu (fried paneer which is a refreshing change than the tikka). One of their popular dishes is their Maple Chili Butterfly Prawn and Marina Style Fried Fish. We, however, binged on their chicken kebabs that came in three different styles - Hariyali, Spicy, and Malai. My vegetarian companion however munched on Coated Jalapenos Cheese Dots that went well with the mayonnaise dip. While you might find a Kadai Chicken With Tawa Paratha, you will also find Hawaiian Vegetable Pizza and curd rice with urulai poriyal. The idea is to include a bit of everything in the menu, says Nikhil. Head to the pub to check out their drinks menu. But we recommend their Chocolate Truffle - a concoction of Baileys, Bacardi, Kahlua, and chocolate syrup which is innovatively presented and leaves us wanting for more.

What Could Be Better

It could get a little taxing to walk in on a Saturday night, download the app and then start ordering. But hey, what's there not to like if you can bid on the spirits.
