Sunset Grill at Westin Velachery is one of the best rooftop restaurants in the city and the decor is a winner. the food, sous chef Biju Philip prepared a scrumptious, never ending meal that bowled us over.
We started with a mezze platter that included hummus, babaghanoush, Tzatziki with pita bread. We are talking typical Lebanese food. The creamy hummus and pita bread combination were our favourites and the chef gets a thumbs up for starting the meal with this one. Amuse Bouche - which is grilled watermelon with edamame and feta aioli was a palatte teaser.
The melon on the wooden plate is so cute - you'll feel sorry for eating it. Marinated eggplant with wasabi mayo and flame roasted tomato is a perfect antipasto. Packed with flavour this dish is great as a summer side dish.
We can't stop raving about the onion rings which were crispy, crunchy, and crusty. The rings were nongreasy and melted in our mouths. Phew! Take your taste buds to chicken heaven with the Barbequed leg of chicken with truffle parmesan mash. The chicken piece was full of flavour and the mash only brought in more balance to the otherwise spicy dish.
New Zealand lamb chops with cauliflower mash bacon wrapped grilled asparagus and house salad was exotic. My companion was left speechless after every bite. The meat was tender, smooth, and infused with flavor. Vegetarian counterparts can try paneer pasanada.
After devouring all this food, we still had space to take in their desserts. We had (demolished) Callebaut chocolate dome, flourless sponge, chewy caramel and peanut crunch. The chocolate melting in your mouth is proof enough that the dessert is the showstopper of the meal. And when your sweet craving is satisfied, you know that was one good meal!
They also have some signature cocktail - we tried the drink with vodka, orange, basil, and ginger. One of their must-try is their handcrafted beer.
