INCG Independence Day Ride
Head to Perungudi for a morning cycling experience with INCG on 15th August. Ithu Namma Cycling Group (INCG) is organising a cycling ride around the city and you can be a part of it as well. They have two categories - 73 km as a special for 73rd Independence Day and others with 36 km coverage. The ride will start at Pro Bikers in Perungudi at 5 am and will go on till 10 am. the aim is to promote cycles as a nature-friendly way of transport along with spreading awareness about climate change. Gear up your cycles and book your tickets to it to experience the sunrise and freshest of air.
YS Rocket Making Workshop
Make your kid join the DIY movement with Young Scientist (YS). On the occasion of Independence day, YS is hosting a special air-powered rocket making workshop for kids. You kids will be provided with a kit which will include materials to make, instruction manual along with helpers who will help your kid make their own handmade rockets. They try it, test it and take it home! The tickets to the event cost just INR 650 and it starts at 2:30 pm at the Young Scientist foundation in Shollingalur. don't forget to get your own plastic bottle!
Decathlon Run Series - Independence Day Special
Hit the road early morning for a run with Decathlon's run series this Independence Day. The marathon will start at 5 in the morning at Decathlon Padur in Kelambakkam. You can cover a distance of 1, 3, 5 and 10 km. men, women and kids, all are invited! The event will start off with a Zumba session for a warm-up and will be followed by the walk or run. All you have to do is register for INR 200 or INR 450 depending on the distance chosen. You will get a t-shirt and a certificate for it as well!
Ride To Tail
This independence day, ride to explore with Road Thrill. Hop on your bikes and head to Cresent Engineering College! The ride will take you through Rameshwaram, Dhanushkodi, Pondicherry and back to Chennai. With the flag-off starting at 5 am on 15th August, you will be riding to know and explore! Full face helmets, ankle shoes and hand gloves are necessary. Further, you will be given a formation to maintain through the journey which you are not allowed to break for safety purposes. Freedom Carnival
True freedom is when you can give the same to other people. Join Ooruni Foundation at Misrimal Navajee Munoth Jain Engineering College this August as they set the biggest carnival for children with special needs. You can volunteer to help in the organising or you can be a part of it as well. Spend a day with these kids as they participate in different activities throughout the day. There will be talent shows, stalls to shop and activities where you and they can equally have fun! Balloon slides and lots of games will keep you entertained as well. Call them up if you wish to volunteer or support.
