A mainstay in Tamil Cinema, Luz House in Mylapore is a 250-year-old colonial house with regal pillars, white walls, brass showpieces surrounded by massive lawns. The property is two-storeys tall and comes with an attached studio that can be used for photoshoots, private parties and more. The lawns are mostly used for setting up buffet counters and for accommodating the crowd as they watch performances taking place at the raised platform (right outside the house on the ground floor). Luz House also has an A/C hall that's perfect for sit-down meals and can accommodate up to 40 people at a time, and the two floors in total can accommodate up to 150 people comfortably. They can also arrange for serial lighting and additional furniture, but catering, photography and decor is your lookout.
AVM Rajeswari Kalyana Mandapam
If small and cosy isn’t for you, why not pull out all the stops for another Tamil Cinema born marriage hall in town? AVM Rajeswari is a 900 seater marriage hall located in Mylapore. The premium location, size, and amenities along with central air-conditioning, and plenty of space for parking and sitting, make it an ideal wedding venue. You can arrange your decorator as well as caterers to do the rest. Built by AVM film studio’s founder, AV Meyappan, the cinema hall has an interesting addition - it is peppered with vintage Tamil movie memorabilia and posters. Also, only vegetarian food is allowed.
EVP Rajeswari Marriage Palace
EVP Rajeswari Marriage Palace is a 1,500-seater marriage hall in T.Nagar. It has all the bells and whistles of a premium marriage hall like central air-conditioning, massive dining area and ample car parking space. They also have multiple venues across the city and they are all equally deluxe! You can arrange your decorator (or they can do it for you with an extra amount) and caterer to do the rest of the work for the big fat wedding. They also have a wide and green lawn which is perfect for laying your food spread! Only veg food is allowed.
If your heart is set on outdoor weddings, then Shiva Parvathy Pushpa Gardens is your best bet in Maduravoyal. The 14-acre lush green space, four kilometres from Anna Nagar is super popular for weddings. The venue is functional to a capacity of 3000 guests and can be customised for groups of different sizes. Looking for a smallish ceremony? They’ve got beautifully nestled groves for just that. If you wanna go large scale, then there’s space for that too. With that, you also get two complimentary rooms and the lawn. They offer catering but also allow outside catering. Price per plate for vegetarian food is INR 800 and non-veg is INR 1000. Valet parking is available.
Em El Em Kalyana Mandapam
Em El Em Kalyana Mandapam is a long-standing marriage hall in Nungambakkam that’s almost always in demand. This place actually has two separate marriage halls - a 1,100-seater and a smaller hall for 350 people. Em El Em is often picked for that reason. It’s great for small intimate functions and allows you the flexibility to host large and grand functions as well thanks to the bigger hall. Amenities wise, there’s everything from central air-conditioning to ample car parking space. It also comes with 10 rooms to use. You get to pick your own caterer and decorator. However, only vegetarian food is allowed.
Vivanta Fisherman's Cove
Speaking of popular venues, we’d be remiss not to mention a place for a beach wedding in Chennai. Taj Fisherman's Cove is a fairytale spot on ECR maintained by the Taj Group and all weddings here are five-star events. Known for their hospitality, their team aims to go over and above to serve all their clients everything from food to event logistics. Not only does it provide you with a traditional spot to exchange your vows but also helps you with the decor. You can choose your own caterer, however. AVM Garden Villa in Vadapalani is a 2 acres contemporary cosy villa built for your private wedding affair. Built-in 1965, it looks straight out a movie with its interestingly shaped rooms for guests and sprawling gardens with gazebos and canopies. They have large porticos, antique doors and furniture, various bedrooms to accommodate your guest, a huge pooja room along with a party hall to host your reception in. They even have swings and sculptures overlooking an artificial pond in their garden. You can arrange for decorators and caterers with their help. It is pet-friendly too!
New Woodlands Hotel
If you want to go a little old school then New Woodlands Hotel is your space to occupy. With their old school art deco style ambience and iconic flavours, you can get both your decor and catering done at one place (also because outside vendors are not allowed). Mind you though, it is completely vegetarian but the taste of the South Indian food here makes it worth it. They have a banquet hall along with a fresh outdoor space in their backyard if you want to go for a breezy reception. Price per plate is about INR 400.

This property in Egmore has been a go-to marriage hall for years now. Palatial looking with an accommodation capacity of about 1000 guests, this place is perfect if you're looking to host a wedding in the city centre and indoors. There are about 10 a/c rooms and 3 non a/c rooms too where you can lodge during your stay. The parking allows for about 60 cars to be parked comfortably. Catering and decor is your lookout.
Raja Muthiah Hall
Located adjacent to the Rani hall, Raja Muthiah Hall looks just like Rani Hall but with an accommodation capacity of about 700 guests. They've got rooms for accommodation and parking too. Catering and decor is your lookout. You can also book both the halls if you're indeed planning for a big, fat Indian wedding.
Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall
Among the more elegant looking event venues in the city, Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall in Santhome offers a storage capacity of about 1000 guests split across the main hall and dining area. There are about 7 airconditioned rooms too and a parking space of about 200-odd vehicles. They handle the catering and it's only vegetarian food. Price per plate is available upon request.

There are about 12 air-conditioned rooms of which 2 are complimentary with hall booking. They offer catering too and prices start from about INR 650 per plate. There's plenty of parking space too.
Sri Ramachandra Convention Center
Located in Thiruvanmiyur, Sri Ramachandra Convention Center is among the biggest event venues in the city with an accommodation capacity of over 2500 people. They do catering and decor as well and offer about 22 rooms for lodging. Their staff is known be courteous and their decor services are spot on! Outside catering is also allowed. However, you can only serve vegetarian food. Price per plate start from about INR 400.
