As much as we love Auroville and the lovely eateries it offers, one can't always drive up to gorge on the delicious food and bask in the peaceful aura whenever we want. Thankfully, we have a pretty decadent and an exciting reason to not feel so bad about living there - Bread & Chocolate. This little Auroville cafe that's always brimming with good food and warmth has set shop in Alwarpet in the same property that once housed Bharat Bistro, and we couldn't be more elated.
Bright and inviting, this place is open on all days from 8 am to 8 pm, offering all of Bread & Chocolate's classics and more. Of course, we're going to start with the croissants. Flaky, buttery and heart-warming, you've got to give them a try. Their Summertime Tartine is also another classic you just can't go wrong with. Puddings, grilled sandwiches, pancakes, smoothies and tarts are on offer too.
For the complete experience, try their signature ‘bread and chocolate’ - thickly sliced sourdough loaded with dark chocolate, sea salt and honey. That and a cup of joe from their coffee counter which also offers cold brews and more should invoke enough nostalgia you have associated with Auroville. Of course, you have treats to pick up from their chocolate bar too.
