A four-day thematic festival celebrating Navartri hosted by The Wandering Artist in RA Puram. Celebrating Shakti is a festival that has so many events that you’re probably going to end up wanting to go for all of them. The fest will feature traditional games workshops for couples hosted by Kreeda Games, a self defence workshop for women by Uday Dhanda, a professional Krav Maga trainer from Chennai, a talk on the architecture and history of Shakthi Temples by scholar Chitra Madhavan, and a photo exhibition titled Durga – Dynamics of power, gender bias & a story of widows in India by Sharmistha Dutta. There’s also a comedy show by an all women trio {Syama, Saadiya and Niveditha}, Navrathri Stories for Children and a Theatre performance “Dolls” by Crea-Shakthi. And that’s just to name a few.

What Is It?
Who Is It For?
Anyone who loves the arts — whether it’s performing or not — there’s something for everyone here. If you’re fascinated by Hindu mythology attend a session by architect Madhusudhanan who will be sharing intriguing stories of goddess Meenakshi, the goddess who has eyes like that of a fish! For those who love classical music there’s a Carnatic music concert by singer Sushma Somasekaran {and it’s for free}. There’s even something for the kids too —a workshop for children by theatre group Crea-Shakthi.
Why Should I Go For It?
If you’re someone who’s artistically-inclined and would love to learn, then join in! There’s a whole lot of events to choose from, it’s on for four whole days and you’ll get to meet a lot of interesting, like-minded people. So don’t miss!
When: Thursday, September 28 to Sunday, October 1
Where: 51, 6th Main Rd, RA Puram, Govindaswamy Nagar, Raja Annamalai Puram.
