Been wanting to travel to Rajasthan but haven't got the chance? Fret not! Chokhi Dhani in Sriperumbudur brings you the heart and soul of Rajasthan through a day packed with all things fun and colourful. Located near Queensland Theme Park, this place treats you to an evening of festivities and feasting on rich food in a 15-acre fair, showcasing Rajasthani culture and cuisine in all its glory.
The fair at Chokhi Dhani is the main attraction, as it includes all kinds of things like rides on camels, horses and bullock carts, mehendi for women, a traditional wooden puppet show on Rajasthani folklore, a traditional magic show called Jaadu Ro Khel and more. There's also an acrobatics act called Nat Ro Kartab, skill games like archery and darts and fortune-telling by Rajasthani palm readers.
But it's of course the dancing at Chokhi Dhani that we feel is the centre of all attractions as it features the traditional Rajasthani dance forms like Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, and Bhavai, all performed by trained professional dancers. And guess what? If you’re feeling up to it, you can jump on stage and they may just teach you a few moves!
As for the food, you get to have dinner here and boy, you’ll be famished by that time. But there is thali’s worth of food to eat, so don't worry. The spread is exclusively vegetarian and has vegetable pulao, khichdi, dal baati, boondi raitha, and much more, all made by chefs brought down from Rajasthan. Chokhi Dhani also has a chaat counter with authentic North Indian chaat, and desserts like barfis and halwas to close it out.
Price wise, a visit here costs you INR 500 and can go up to INR 1,000. The difference in price comes from the air-conditioned eating area during dinner and the entry fee for the festivities. Chokhi Dhani welcomes group bookings as well, so head there with your fam! Just remember- all the festivities begin at 4 pm and end by 10 pm.
