7 Kinds Of Lassi & Tandoori Momos: Look Up This Quirky, Desi Restaurant's New Menu

Dhaba Estd 1986 Delhi in Ispahani Centre wins for its loud and quirky interiors, but does their new menu match up? We’ll tell you.

Dhaba Drama

If we judge restaurants like we do our friends, this three floored restaurant would be the loudest and quirkiest… Table tops with Snake & Ladders printed on them, tyres on the wall and an actual truck on the third floor! Talk about going all out, the place screams to be on your Instagram feed. Some might argue, a bit OTT, but hey we aren’t complaining.

So the new menu features dishes from across the country, right from Punjab to Bengal. We started off with the platters, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The pillowy Paneer Tikka is to die-for, along with Khade Masala Ka Paneer tikka and Veg Galouti. The Non Vegetarian platter had melt-in-mouth Galouti Kebeb, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Murgh Malai Tikka, Highway Chicken Tikka and Amritsari Machhi. The latter is a must have if you consider yourself a carnivore; you can share it with another person or two ( if you really want to, that is).

Hearty Meal

If you’re in the mood for some fusion, the Tandoori Vegetarian & Chicken Momos are good but nothing to write home about. For mains you should tuck in to the creamy butter chicken with roti  which is oh-so wholesome.

Feeling hot? Try their 7 varieties of lassi including gulkand (rose petal preserve) that comes in a traditional kulhad, which we absolutely loved. But be warned, it can make you feel pretty full especially after mains, so you might want to split this. And last but not least… hello, dessert. We had the classic gulab jamun and rasgulla, while the former was saccharine, the latter turned out to be perfectly soft, crumbly and sweet. All-in-all, albeit a few hiccups, we think the new menu here at Dhaba gets desi food absolutely right.

#LBBTip

You must try at least one or all of the desi mocktails, they’re delish!
