What Makes It Awesome

Down Under in Egmore is an age-old bowling alley that’s a regular hub for the cities bowlers. They have four bowling lanes and a price tag of INR 180/person during weekdays and INR 240/person on weekends. That will buy you ten frames and 20 throws. Honestly, that’s pretty cheap for a fun activity in the city.

Open from 10 am to 11 pm on all days, Down Under also hosts state bowling meets and tournaments for everyone during the weekends. If competitive bowling is your forte, you must check this out. But given that there are four lanes only, call in advance to make sure that you have a slot free. You might have to wait sometimes as weekends are known to get quite busy.

They’ve got arcade games and billiards too. There are quite a few tables for billiards so rest assured you should be able to find a free spot when you get there. An hour on the billiards table will set you back by INR 150. There’s also a café that serves snacks and usual café food to keep you fed and quenched. However, although functional and sufficient, the cafe's preparations are not what draws crowds. Down Under’s appeal comes from the fact that it’s such a non-assuming, quiet place and thanks to its non-exorbitant rates for bowling and billiards, there are quite a few regulars who frequent it. Head to Down Under with your squad and find out for yourself.

What Could Be Better

They’ve got their own house bowling shoes you can use, but we recommend you use your own as they’re quite old and worn out.
