The Balu Mahendra Film Society (BMFS), founded after the legendary director, was started to gain knowledge about films and study filmmaking from other legends. The Madras Film Screening Club and Cinema Rendezvous, both based in Chennai, are two other similar initiatives. After the film’s screening, there will be an interactive session and discussion. What’s better? The MFSC even conducts movie marathon nights every month! You can get in touch with any of the three clubs on Facebook about memberships. My favourite? Cinema Rendezvous for sure. They sell annual memberships, for single screenings and even provide concessions for students! Maybe you should head to Savera next on May 12 to watch their next screening, Wes Anderson’s Rushmore!
