As much as we love dropping by Old Madras Baking Company for cookies and muffins, we also love the idea of having baked bread delivered right at our doorstep.

Whole Lotta Loaves

If you live in Chennai, your day probably starts with a fresh, steaming hot cuppa of filter kaapi and a copy of your favourite newspaper. How about you add a freshly baked loaf to this list of doorstep deliveries to start your morning with? The quaint little deli, Old Madras Baking Company {OMBC}, delivers different kinds of bread to your home on a subscription basis. You can choose up to three types of bread for each delivery and the loaves will be sent home straight out of the oven as soon as the sun rises.

There’s the usual cereal bread {made with 11 types of grains} and baguettes you can add to your bread basket. Apart from these, you can always brighten your morning up with some buttery Parisian croissants {honestly, our favourite at OMBC}. Those with a sweet tooth can grab a combo of a croissant, a Danish and a Nutella brioche. Those intolerant to wheat need not sulk! OMBC also offers gluten-free bread — made with tapioca, rice and corn flour — as part of the delivery package.

Just Dough It

You can choose a combination of three different bread varieties. The bakery delivers once, twice or three times a week — depending on how often you want to indulge in baked goods.

The best part? You can just add money to your OMBC wallet online and keep topping it up. You’ll be billed at the end of the month and if you’re feeling extra generous you can even transfer remaining credit to a loved one and really make their day!

Price: INR 60 to INR 190.
