What Makes It Awesome

No, South Indian food is not just idly-dosa and Goan cuisine is not just about fish curry and prawns. The ongoing Goan food festival at The Park is here to prove this statement. The food festival specially curated by Sarita Chavan is a good way to discover the Goan Saraswat cuisine even for a vegetarian like me. Try their welcome drink, Kokum Sherbat that is made with kokum and perfect for the summers.

We highly recommend their Mixed Vegetable Rissois which is fried parcels of veggies and cheese. Try it with their dip and feel the small delights melting in your mouth. For something spicier, try the Kobi Danger which is cabbage cutlets. Goa-returns ought to know about the famous afternoon thalis that are served at the smallest of cafes. Chef Sarita has replicated the thali for Chennai with the most authentic dishes like the Soi Kadhi (a lavendar-coloured kadhi usually mixed with rice), Kappa (banana, brinjal, and potato fried and coated with rava) and Amade Uddamethi (gravy with methi flavouring). Thali is incomplete without a salad- so try their kochimbir that is cucumber salad with ground peanut. The Moonga Gathi or sprouted green gram curry can also be mixed with rice and is high on flavour. We are mind blown when chef Sarita told us that the food has been prepared with very little or no oil.

For people with sweet tooth, try their ripe banana halwa with cardamom or dudhi kheer that is loaded with nuts. Never tried a Bibingka cake? Now is your chance at the food festival.

Pro-Tip

Does that mean there is no non-vegetarian food? Don't you worry, they have enough options for you too! Ross Omelet, mutton chops, fish cutlet, chicken Shagoti, and prawns, too. They have the same thali with non-vegetarian dishes in it!
