Fashionistas in the house, check out handcrafted and handpainted jewellery from Quills & Spills, a brand started by Kavitha Govindarajan.

What Makes It Awesome

Owning chunky silver lotus jhumkas, thread work necklace, Afghan chandbalis or the statement polki bali has become a norm for any fashion lover.

Kavitha Govindarajan from Chennai got into the business of jewellery designing by chance. She started quilling jewellery as a stress buster which slowly spilled into sourcing jewellery, followed by launching her own brand, Quills & Spills. We hope you got the point! (Quills & Spills) Kavitha works with artisans from across the country to source her jewellery which is mostly handcrafted, handpainted or the stones are handset. What are the items that come under the label? She has authentic German silver temple jewellery, South Indian temple jewellery like ones with a matte finish, statement earrings, and unique nose pins. Their nose pins begin from INR 200 and their earrings are priced from INR 400.

We particularly liked the Jai Ganesha handpainted silver stud that makes a statement by itself. Their colour pop enamel jhumkas can go with both traditional and modern attire.

However, it is her recently launched Hemanika series that is making all the noise. The concept of this series is to have a yesteryear rani (queen) and a current gen young girl to sport different collections. The series is to show how jewellery has evolved over the year yet relevant in its own space. As part of the series, they have guttapusalu haaram, ruby cutwork necklace with a matte finish, and handcrafted Krishna series. The other series that you cannot miss their Manjal series, which means yellow. As part of this look forward to kemp jewellery that comes in different patterns. They currently have a specially curated festive edit which has Ganesha, Durga and Lakshmi necklaces and earrings.

Kavitha tells us that statement earring is the need of the hour. Chuck jewellery layering and just go with one statement piece and you are good to go! Their absolutely stunning matte collection is perfect for the kalyanam. Drape a saree, match it with chunky earrings and you are good to get some jadhagams your way!
