A Piece Of History
Started by Ksheervasudha Kumar, a budding architect, in 2012, this cafe was built after a 150-year-old deteriorating colonial bungalow was painstakingly restored. What was literally falling to pieces has since then been restored into it original glory and now houses a cute and cosy cafe inside. Expect high ceilings, marble floors, old fashioned ceiling fans and plenty of vintage wooden furniture. The seating is spread through the different rooms of the house. But if you are thinking whether you could just survive with fans here, well then they have air conditioning too thankfully.
A View To Kill
Although the cafe has limited options in terms of food — mainly pizzas, sandwiches and pastas — the ambience of the cafe makes up for the rather dull menu. Close to the St. Thomas Mount, this cafe is easy to find. Not just the ease of access, this cafe also comes with a magnificent view of the neighbouring golf course. Although air-conditioned indoor seating is available, we recommend you sit in the lawns outside, overlooking the golf course on one side and the Chennai metro on the other. We tried their Pizza Verdure, Brownie Milkshake and Mushroom Vente. We’d recommend the milkshake, which had just the right amount of chocolate, and was blended perfectly with chunks of brownies. On most dishes on the menu, they have an option of a half or full plate order, making it light for your tummy and your pocket.
This cafe is the perfect spot for a catch up and an evening snack if you not so high on taste and menu choices. So grab your squad and go to this vintage-themed cafe overlooking the golf course for your next food outing!
