This Kerala Food Festival Features A Chef Who Cooked For The MasterChef Australia Judges!

What Is It?

Chennai’s Courtyard by Marriott presents it’s Kerala Food Festival, Maapila – The Secrets of Timeless Flavours curated and made by Chef, Saji P Alex. Chef Saji is known for his Kerala cuisine and has made a name for himself in the cooking world with it. He’s cooked for Master Chef Australia judges and on the Ellen De Generes Show!

Chef Saji’s lineup for the festival feature all the traditional mainstays of Kerala cuisine, puttu with curry, appam with stew, Malabar parottas and kozhi varratiyathu, sweet banana chips and even yummy fish pickle! The food tasted like home cooked food and we absolutely loved it for that. We found ourselves visiting the appam station many times for refills. Since we’re talking about food, we must mention that the dessert section surprised us with a really light Mysore Pak that yummy without being oily. The food festival is on only for dinner throughout this week so do keep that in mind.

Who Is It For?

If you love coconut in your food then you’ll love this festival. The variety of food available isn’t particularly large, but what’s made is made well, so if you like Kerala food and looking for a buffet to eat as much as you can, then this is for you.

Why Should I Go For It?

Chef Saji’s cooking speaks for itself, right from freshly chosen ingredients to well marinated meat, each dish is rich and flavourful. Having said that if parottas and appams are not to your fancy then you may prefer their regular buffet available at the same restaurant (continental and Indian). All in all we enjoyed the food, the price tag however is on the pricier side, so we think if you’re looking for an indulgence food wise this month, this could be worth checking out.
