What Makes It Awesome

One step inside this resto-bar off the East Coast Road and you'll be impressed. Located towards the beach, Kipling Cafe welcomes you with charming hut-style cabanas decked up with dreamy white curtains and lit by candles all around. While the sprawling lawn hosts the cabanas, the Kipling Masala is a lit bar addition that gives us strong Greek vibes. We love!

While dinner here is the best bet if the weather is kind, Kipling Cafe is just as lovely in the afternoons. With the advantage of being along the coast, it is not a bad idea for a lunch date either as their inside seating and rooftop dining has got you covered. You can enjoy your meal with a view of the beach from their small but lovely rooftop space and sip on all the cocktails you want.

As for the food - the starters from their continental menu are stellar. Their Mixed Seafood Basket and the enormous Thai Sharing Appetiser Platter is mouthwatering and is so filling that you might want to skip the main course. They also serve Mediterranean pizzas, ravioli and tenderloin beef and some Thai specialities. For those of you looking for some tandoori delicacies and Punjabi food, Kipling Masala has a separate menu with a whole range of dishes for you.

Kipling Cafe has a bar for the win as well. While they serve all kinds of drinks, we recommend trying their LIITs. If you like a fruit punch, their Cranberry and Peach LIITs are a must-have. So what are you waiting for? Put an end to all that ‘perfect date spots in Chennai’ searches and just drive down to this cafe with bae already!

What Could Be Better

The cocktails are a little light, so if you want a drunken daze we suggest you go for some hard liquor.

Pro-Tip

Make sure to book a table well in advance as this place is packed on weekends.
