I went to Auroville earlier this year and to my surprise, it turned out to be a different world altogether. Auroville is an international township with people residing from almost 52 nations. This spot was founded with an idea to build something which doesn't really belong to anyone in particular. The main attraction of this place is the Matri Mandir. a monument like meditation hub that is surrounded by 12 petals {which signify one quality each i.e. Sincerity, Humility, Gratitude, Perseverance, Aspiration, Receptivity, Progress, Courage, Goodness, Generosity, Equality and Peace}.

When in Pondicherry, you can hire an auto for around INR 200-250 and get a trip to Auroville. For a round trip, you have to pay around INR 600. And check the timings before you go as they have specific opening timings. For meditation in Matri Mandir, you have to reserve your spot in advance so please check before you go.

Don't forget to buy their special incense sticks which are sold for at least four times its original charge outside Pondicherry. Also, check the nearby boutique to buy some gorgeous decor for souvenirs.
