Little Italy is a vegetarian Italian restaurant that’s been around for two decades now! It’s built its name on the authentic Italian fare it serves and we’d be hard pressed to find another place like it in Chennai. Their 10 page menu is dizzying and choosing what to order can be tricky if you’ve not been there before, so here’s a list of our top five preparations we really liked and recommend.

Bruschetta Al Pomodoro
Bruschetta done right; fresh tomatoes, fresh baked bread and a tinge of garlic, oregano and olive oil to add flavour. It’s crunchy, tasty and perfect for sharing with a group. In fact we recommend getting a plate extra to mop up the sauce from the pasta!
Now you’d be surprised to see a Mexican dish here but don’t be, because it is amazing. Their nachos come with plenty of cheese and refried beans, and the nacho chips are made in house. Like the Bruschetta, we recommend getting this bad boy to share because there’s a very good chance you won’t be able to finish it by yourself.
A thin crust pizza with fresh tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic, olive oil and olives, the Zorba is big enough for two. The secret to good pizza is to limit the number of toppings and let the pizza speak for itself, and the Zorba most certainly does. The flavours are mild and pleasant, and not overpowering. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, then do yourself a favour and pick the Zorba.
Risotto Funghi E Zafferano
The risotto at Little Italy is the perfect blend between Indian and Italian cooking because it’s all about the rice. This particular risotto, like the Zorba pizza has just a few ingredients, namely just rice and mushrooms, and flavoured with cream, parmesan cheese and saffron. The end product is both creamy and thick, but also firm enough to chew. Yum!
Italy’s prized dessert, the Tiramisu literally means “The Pick Me Up” and is a must try at Little Italy. They have two variants of the Tiramisu, one made with vanilla cream custard and the other with mascarpone cheese. We recommend the latter if you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience. Speaking of authentic Italian, they’re both soaked in rum and coffee and come sprinkled with chocolate powder on top. The only way we know how to end a meal here.
