What Makes It Awesome
Started in 1983 by a Chennai based designer, Mayuri is the brain-child of Thangam Mathai. She converted her passion for prints and sarees into a full fledged designer boutique which now holds exhibitions at various destinations around the world. They, however, specialise in sarees and work with a variety of distinct prints and colours.
This boutique offers cotton, pure silk and chanderi sarees, all of which are handwoven.Mayuri houses a collection of sarees with unique colour coordinates and an assortment of block prints too. The unusual combination of colours is their USP and we love the mix and match factor they add to their apparel.
We liked their kalamkari design sarees and tussar sarees. The tussar sarees are bordered with some elegant applique work. They also do a variation of gota designs on their chanderi sarees that you must take a look at, but it's their embroidered sarees that are at another level altogether. Thangam Mangai has established Mayuri as a brand that serves the eccentric yet elegant crowd and we love how she has played with traditional designs to suit the modern drape.
