This luxurious homestay in the hills of Munnar is amazing for its balcony views and also for the culinary delights.
Stay At This Hillside Homestay In Munnar For Your Next Romantic Holiday!
What Makes It Awesome
Mistletoe Homestay is situated in the Kanan Devan hills in Munnar and is approximately 20km away from the town itself. The slightly remote location is accessible by road and offers jaw-dropping misty mountain views from your first-floor balcony.
The space you’ll be staying in is a beautiful bedroom on the first floor of the house that has an attached balcony overlooking the valley below. The bedroom itself has been tastefully decorated and comes with a luxurious double bed with soft white linens, a modern attached bathroom and plenty of nice cozy corners to sit at and laze around. The whole room feels like a posh hotel, right from the premium cutlery to the fresh linen and it’s all kept spick and span.
The owners of the property who live on site are super hospitable and aim to make each travelers experience memorable and unique. Joe (a hotelier himself) and his family have built a clay oven in their home that you can use to bake your own dishes if you so desire, or you can sit back and let them do the cooking for you as it also functions as a café! They love preparing their own traditional style of Syrian Christian delicacies and continental style bakes and bread. Rest assured you won’t have to travel far for good food (idiyappams and stew!).
Apart from the property and the food that you can experience, there’s trails and treks for you to go on as well. Birdwatchers bring your cameras and binoculars as you’ll be surrounded by reserve forests, and the famous Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary (also called Thattekad Bird Sanctuary) is nearby. Apart from adventuring, there’s plenty of space just to sit and be. Be it with a book and nice cup of chai or just a tall glass of wine and charming company, we can easily see ourselves lounging around for an entire day.
Amenities wise there’s everything from Wi-Fi to cell phone coverage so you won’t feel disconnected but we recommend going off the grid as it’ll be a more enjoyable experience, given the setting. Prices start at INR 4,000 per night (at the time of this publication) and for what it offers, we think it’s definitely worth it.
