What Makes It Awesome

Founded by researcher Dominique Lopez and Chennai-based fashion designer Priyanjoli Basu, Oh Scrap! will make you fall in love with the idea of sustainable living with its awesome range of fabric accessories. This online brand sources fabric scraps from garment exporters and upcycles them to create a crafty range of home and hair accessories, promoting slow fashion and presenting a prettier and also a green alternative to mass production and plastic.

Started only in December 2019, their extensive range of Christmas decor all made with fabric bowled us over. The craftsmanship of the ornaments plus the variety they had on offer like buntings, stars, hearts, Christmas tree-shaped cushions, garlands, torans and more was refreshing to see. Oh Scrap! also offers lovely cutlery holders, envelope cloth bags, wine bottle holders, cloth coasters, throws and sleeping masks all made from fabric scraps. What a way to give leftover fabrics a fancy spin!

Their prettiest creations and our most favourite of all the merch they sell are their hair accessories. Colourful, handmade and most definitely upcycled, you can choose from hair clips, floral scrunchies and hair bands in a range of patterns and hues. Prices start from about INR 60. Oh Scrap! also makes furoshiki bags(a traditional Korean wrapping cloth that's mostly square), scarves and juttis and is planning on adding more thematic home decor to its collection.  And here's the best part - Oh Scrap! gets tailoring for all its products done by housewives from low-income families thus creating employment opportunities for them. Pretty cool, eh?
