If you want to breathe pure, cool air and experience nature in all its glory, head to this heaven on earth called Theosophical society. Its famed, imposing banyan tree and lush green cover will make you wonder if you are in Chennai. To feel inspired or to clear your head or to simply hold hands with your loved one and take that beautiful walk, look no farther! The society, founded by leaders such as Anne Besant and Madame Blavatsky not only espouses deep philosophy (places of worship of multiple faith and sign boards of many countries inside the tall walls and the green compound stand testimony to theosophy) but also cleanses the mind, body and soul. The flora and fauna will wow you for sure.
Their visitor hours are a tad odd: mornings 8 30 to 10 30 am and evenings from 2 to 4 pm. The place is closed on Sundays and public holdiays. The entry is free! Best things in life are free, isn't it!?
