Exhibitions are always fun to attend. The lights, colours, noises of laughter, kids running around, of course, the food! Be it outdoor or indoor, nothing can match the experience of casually flaneuring around, checking out displays of different brands. Not even mall shopping can. Chennai has a list of popular exhibitions that happen all through the year and we have tried to cover them in this story. Enjoy!
These Are The Popular Exhibitions That Happen In Chennai All Through The Year
Trade Fair In Island Grounds
The 46th Tourist & Industrial Fair is open to all with an entry fee of as low as INR 35 for adults and INR 20 for kids. Happening between January 1 to March 7, they have over 110 stalls in food and fashion category, 32 amusement rides (they have a giant wheel!), industrial exhibitions and more. Whatever you do, don't miss trying the apple juice that will be displayed in huge cans in plenty of shops and the popular Delhi Appalam (papad) that tastes delish.
Vimonisha Exhibitions
Mylapore Festival
Mylapore is easily one of the happening and liveliest places in the city. Mylapore Festival is a four-day affair where the whole of Mylapore gets lit up. Food Street, Art Street, Kolam competition, spelling bee competitions and more! This happens mostly during Pongal days (around January 8th-14th) and various dance, music, instrumental performances are expected to be scheduled. You can expect stalls of handmade products, numerous homepreneurs, sell help groups and more. Several art workshops will also happen simultaneously.
The Big Picnic
Art Flea Market
This is one of our favourite exhibitions in Chennai. Art Flea Market brings together various artists who are students, full-time corporate workers, mothers and housewives and encourages them to sell their artwork. This is a genuine attempt in motivating these artists and giving them a platform to exhibit and sell their work. It happens three or four times a year. Follow their Instagram page to know when and where they will be organising the next market.
Warhorse Learning Festival
Warhorse Learning Festival happens once in every year and invites speakers from different walks of life- fashionistas, philosophy graduates, artists, dancers, musicians, chefs and more! They talk, discuss and debate about various exciting topics and charge separately for each talks starting from INR 100. You can also find stalls that sell artworks, homemade snacks and other products made by small businesses.
Meena Bazaar
Fashionistas have been looking forward to Meena Bazaar every year since the past sixteen years of its existence. Precious jewellery, fashion accessories, footwear, laces and borders, designer wear, sarees, bedspreads, home decor, kidswear and more- if you love shopping, this is the exhibition you must not miss. Follow the updates on their website to stay informed about the deets of their upcoming events.
