The rooms at the hotel are big and comfortable with every possible amenity you could think of — from the super important WiFi {they have decent speeds} to the humble hair dryer, all your needs are taken care of. Plus, the views outside the glass window are not bad at all. You could even turn your room into an office for the day {as we did} with a desk and chair set up.

If you are staying at the hotel, then breakfast is of course complimentary. It happens daily at the Colonel, where you can tuck into a big spread that does every thing from a full English brekkie to proper south Indian masala dosa. Plus, they make waffles from scratch. Yum! There are desi options like parathas and vadas too. The brekkie here is popular and a lot of local folks walk in during weekends for leisurely brunches. The service is quick and friendly. They also have a smaller section in the front, where you can have a few beers or even have your coffee in a lounge like set up.

Raintree is also known for its excellent stir fry restaurant called Chap Chay, where you can DIY stir fries at a live station. Now coming to the nicest part of the hotel— the gorgeous rooftop bar called the 14th Level Resto Rooftop Bar. If the weather permits you have to sit outside next to the small but really pretty pool with Zen vibes {there is a buddha to add atmosphere too}. Don’t like the heat? Then just step into the small air conditioned bar that also overlooks the pool and order your drinkies along with kebabs and grills.

If you are a guest, and want to not miss your daily workout, the gym upstairs is fully equipped. Now coming to the pool, there is a little changing room right next to the pool for your convenience, and you can head straight for the gorgeous pool, which overlooks Chennai’s skyline through glass walls and can make for an enchanting and relaxing time in the evening especially {8pm is shut down time}. The only hitch: after changing, you might have to walk through the bar in your wet hair situation because the only way in and out is through the bar.
