Is this real life or is this just fantasy? No more worrying about getting stuck in traffic and missing a flight. Thanks to Metro Rail services, in a few months, we’ll be able to travel quicker to the airport from Chennai Central and AG-DMS {Gemini}. Currently working on Koyambedu to Alandur, Little Mount to Chennai airport and Thirumangalam to Nehru Park, Metro Rail services will soon be launched at Chennai Central and AG-DMS. This means passengers can reach the airport from Central station via Koyambedu and Alandur in 45 minutes {covering 25 kms} and from AG-DMS in 35 minutes. Yes!
So how often can you catch the train? In the initial stages, it will run every 10 minutes on these areas during peak hours and every 20 minutes otherwise. Once more people come on board {literally} the frequency will increase. And the cost? It is said it’ll be around INR 70 from the Central to the airport and INR 60 from the airport to AG-DMS, but travel card holders will receive special discounts. So keep an eye out, and make sure to get your travel card ready for cool discounts and to avoid traffic and more importantly, missing flights!
