Make horse riding a serious hobby at Pondicherry's Red Earth Riding School, started by Jacqueline. They also have an ongoing Pondicherry Equestrian Championship that you can witness.

What Makes It Awesome

Since the time Jacqueline (also the founder of Ayesha accessories) founded Red Earth Riding School in Pondicherry, horse riding as a sport has been more accessible to the people of Chennai and Pondicherry.

The equestrian school is located on 22 lush acres in the international township of Auroville (Tamil Nadu) and has been around for the past eighteen years inspiring young riders and creating awareness and promoting the equestrian sport. After a humble beginning with only two horses, the riding school has steadily grown to thirty horses (including India's only Andalusian stallions and mares) and facilities comprising a 20 x 60 m dressage arena, an Olympic-sized jumping arena, a cross-country course, and multiple warm-up arenas. The flower gardens only add to the beauty of the space.

Who are the trainers? There are trainers and instructors from India, Germany, France, Spain, England, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States. They have brought to the school their diverse expertise and passion for horses over the years. So, rest assured you are learning from some of the best trainers across the world.

Pro-Tip

To jazz thing up, they also have the Pondicherry Equestrian Championship that they have been organising since 2000. In their 19th edition, there will be dressage tests and first jumping rounds. Competitors in the dressage category will be tested for precision and finesse. As for the jumping, competitors will compete over complex courses, with heights ranging from introductory 60cm courses all the way up to 130 and 140cm courses for advanced horses and riders. There will also be a two-level Grand Prix jumping events that will see massive spectators.
