What Makes It Awesome

Started in 2009 in Chennai, The Iloveread.in Library owes its success to its loyal patrons. An online, subscription-based library, you can access as many books as you want within their subscription period! All you have to do is create an account on their website, pick a duration to subscribe for (1,3, 6 and 12 months) and choose two books you want to read first (because they only deliver two books at a time). Once you return that set, you can move onto the next set of books. There are over 31,000 books to choose from, all neatly catalogued and arranged by genre and author on their website.

If you’re not sure what to pick, you can search through curated lists like their own top picks, librarian recommendations or pick something from their most popular lists. The Iloveread.in Library's got books in English and regional languages like Tamil and Hindi too across most genres. Once chosen, just wait for the delivery to be made. There are no due dates or late fines; you can read at your own pace and return the books whenever you’re done. What’s more is that there’s no deposit or joining fee but just the subscription fee. The subscription rates start from about INR 600 per month. It's like Netflix but with books.

The Iloveread.in Library also hosts events. Open mic nights, book launches, theatre performances, storytelling for kids and adults and book readings are some of the gigs they host at their space in Venkateswara Nagar, Adyar. The place is both a physical library and a stage for hosting events. What we love the most about ILR is that you can pick the books you want to read on your phone and have them conveniently waiting for you at home. From a gifting standpoint, we think book lovers would cherish a subscription gifted to them.
