The Motta Maadi Music is a concept that is not new to Chennai, but Badhri's terrace music sessions are a hit and super popular in the city. Each edition has a theme (think AR Rahman and Ilayaraja) and sometimes they conduct, Spin The Wheel, which means you get to choose from different composers including - Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Anirudh Ravichander, Deva, Vidyasagar, and Bhardwaj.
The Motta, Maadi Music sessions, focus on the involvement of the audience when musicians take the backseat. The composer of the night is Badhri and his team, and you can join in the open mic anytime. It is like real instruments version of karaoke nights and can totally help you unwind after a day's hard work. They even have crowd-pullers through Carnatic Music where if you are a juvenile singer, you can come up with your instruments as well.
At Motta Maadi Music sessions, they even have themes like "Bring Your Parents" where you can bring any of your older family members to be able to join the fun. They often invite known names from the music industry to jam with you as well. Parking can be an issue, so get there in advance to get a spot.
