What Makes It Awesome

The Pilates Studio in Chennai's KNK Road is an extension of the brand started by Namrata Purohit and her family in Mumbai in January 2011. Pilates is said to be great for people of all ages as it uses low impact exercises with no hard landing or impact to hurt joints. It also involves core strengthening and stability based movements like the Roll Up or the One Leg Circle. And Namrata Purohit, the youngest trained Stott Pilates instructor in the world, ensures that instructors at all her studios are well trained and qualified.

The Pilates Studio doesn’t function like a gym. You need to sign up for pre-booked classes that are conducted by their trainers. Each class takes no more than four to five clients and lasts from 45 minutes to an hour. Their group classes are thrice a week, and a month’s fee starts at about INR 11,000. What’s cool is that if you’re travelling or are not able to attend any of the classes, they’ll be happy to extend your membership duration to cover the backlog.

As for the workout, in addition to floor/mat-based exercises, Pilates uses plenty of specialised equipment like the Reformer, Cadillac and Ladder Barrel, and The Pilates Studio seems to have all of it. They have private classes too, in case you were wondering. But we think the group classes will be just as good as their trainer to client ratio is around 4:1
