Chennai's Swankiest Pilates Studio Is Now Open In KNK
What Makes It Better
Started in January 2011 by Namrata Purohit and her family in Mumbai, the Pilates Studio exists in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and now Chennai. Namrata Purohit, the youngest trained Stott Pilates instructor in the world, is a sought after fitness professional in Mumbai (trains Kareena Kapoor and a host of other celebs!) and ensures that instructors at their studios are well trained and qualified.
Pilates is said to be great for people of all ages including people suffering from back pain and other physical ailments. The reason behind that is because Pilates use low impact exercises (no hard landing or impact to hurt joints) and has plenty of core strengthening and stability based movements like the Roll Up or the One Leg Circle.
In addition to floor/mat based exercises, Pilates uses plenty of specialised equipment for its workouts; names like the Reformer, Cadillac and Ladder Barrel are what the machines are called and their studio has all of it.
Note that the studio doesn’t function like a gym, you sign up for pre-booked classes that are conducted by their trainers. Each class takes no more than four to five clients and lasts from 45 minutes to an hour.
Their group classes are thrice a week and a month’s fee starts at approximately INR 10,000. What’s cool is that if you’re traveling or are not able to attend any of the classes they’ll be happy to extend your membership duration to cover the backlog.
They have private classes too in case you were wondering, but we think the group classes will be just as good as their trainer to client ratio is around 4:1. Stay tuned to LBB, to read our experience piece on The Pilates Studio, once we try it out.
