What Makes It Awesome
We’ve told you about budget jhumkas we found in Mylapore and where to get cutesy terracotta and wooden homemade jewellery. Our most recent find is The Trinket Shop, an interesting venture that makes customised jewellery. Started two years ago by Bhagya Suresh (when she was doing her CA), it began as a relaxing hobby which quickly turned out to have good demand.
Bhagya initially worked with just silk thread and beads to make statement jewellery pieces for everyday wear. Now, she uses German silver, chipped stones, and mirrors to design neckpieces and earrings. She designs them first and sources her materials from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Jaipur. She also procures materials locally from Parry's Corner. The earrings are made from real 92.5 silver and oxidised silver and are priced from INR 150. Our fave is the chunky peacock jhumkas, which will go well with your ethnic wear.
It is hard not to add one of their beautiful Kolhapuri necklaces with intricate thread work to your cart! Bhagya specialises in these neckpieces that are made from German silver. For something simpler, check out their handmade oxidised chokers that can be paired with a cotton kurta and leggings. One of their showstopper items is their dual tone goddess Bali earrings that come with diamond cut finish stones.
All these are single pieces and range from INR 200 to INR 900, so grab away!
Pro-Tip
If you love chokers, you can get them customised here. If you like any specific piece, call and make it yours soon as there’s only one piece in every design.
