Get Ready To Run India’s Second Largest Marathon Right Here In The City

The sixth edition of the Wipro Chennai Marathon is all set to be held in the city on Sunday, December 3, 2017 and here are all the deets. Lauded as the second largest marathon in the country, it is expecting roughly about 25,000 runners to participate from all over India. There are three categories in the marathon — 10K Run, Half Marathon {21.1 kms} and the Full Marathon {42.195 kms}. The theme for this year’s marathon is ‘Chennai Runs Together’ which is inspired by the togetherness shown amongst the people of Chennai during the difficult situations faced by residents in the past few years.

If you’ve never run before but have always wanted to be a part of a marathon, this 10k run is for you. The Half Marathon is the happy middle ground for runners who’ve run 10ks already but are still some time away from a full marathon. The Full Marathon is mostly for professionals and also for those who are seeking some major fitness goals. The age eligibility for the marathon is 15 years and above for the 10k run and 18 years and above for the Half and Full Marathon. And runners, make note that participating in this event qualifies you for all other major races and marathons in the country and also wins you a goody bag with a running T-shirt, running bib, finisher’s medal and a breakfast box. Although the marathon routes are not yet out, it definitely will be Tamil Nadu Athletic Association {TNAA} certified which will take you through both, vintage Madras and modern Chennai.
