What Makes It Awesome

Named after an iconic Chennai landmark that evokes fond memories of hanging out with friends, Broken Bridge Cafe may well become one of the city’s new favourites. Located in Somerset Hotel in quiet MRC Nagar, the place is airy and kissed with sunlight that floods in through the large windows, the space unconstrained, the decor non-fussy — they want there to be a focus on the food. And the food truly deserves your undivided attention!

Choose from a dizzying variety of starters, all with names and unique flavour combinations that are bound to pique your interest and nudge you to sample them. The Thayir Sadam fritters are a must-try. Try also the paneer papdi chaat, which combines two absolute favourites – paneer makhani and the ever-popular papdi chaat. Ask your friends to try the mushroom tikkis and watch as their eyes widen and jaws drop. Non-vegetarians can try Grilled Citrus Butter Prawn, Lemony Stringhoppers (idiyappam!) and Coconut Curry Chicken Burger.

Broken Bridge Cafe also serves alcohol; signature drinks include Paan Lassi and French Pressed Buttermilk Rasam, and for a mere INR 250 extra, you can convert them into cocktails! Just pair the former with vodka and the latter with bourbon, and you’re set for a fun evening. And don’t forget to end your meal with the Gulab Jamun Crème Brulee tart. It just goes to show that sometimes the most outrageous-sounding combinations are truly the most exciting!
