What Makes It Awesome

Perfection and elegance is what the brand Nerthi stands for. And the designer and proprietor of the label, Subbulakshmi vouches for it. With a store in Kottivakkam, in East Coast Road, the brand was started a year ago.

Subbulakshmi believes in creating unique pieces. She designs dresses, kurtis, skirts, jumpsuits for her prèt line and she makes almost anything on request. Blouses are the latest addition to their prèt line. They also have a collection of hand-embroidered blouses that can be mixed and matched with your saree.

Chennai and summer are inseparable. So wear cotton and ace the heat game with outfits from Nerthi. Even though Subbulakshmi also makes outfits with other fabrics, cotton is her favourite. Manipulating fabrics is my thing and I take inspiration from how fabrics fall on a body type, she says.

Her garments are priced from INR 700 onwards. If you are looking for something more budget-friendly, dig into the short top collection. Their dresses are a super hit, too. We particularly like the striped side pleated kurti and the black dress with multi-colour Madras checks, We like the little pocket detailing, too. If intricate embroidery is your thing, check out their embroidery series. Pair the red overcoat with an orange dress and you are ready to slay that sangeet function.

Pro-Tip

They have some adorable overcoats that will be perfect if you are looking for something Indo-western. If skirts are your thing, check out their ikat skirt collection that looks adorable thanks to the ruffles in the border.
