Give back to the community by volunteering at Life Is A Ball, an NGO that uses sport to better the lives of lesser privileged children.

What Makes It Awesome

Here’s your chance to make a difference. If you have some free time in your hands – why not help promote a child’s love for sports? Underprivileged kids are almost never exposed to an education that prepares them for a better tomorrow. Life Is A Ball, aims to remedy that, through sport. They work with corporation and government schools and introduces organised sports coaching. They even provide sports kits to the teams and enroll them in competitions and tournaments.

Co-founded by Tennis player Somdev Devvarman and his friends Vikram Menon and Arun Karthik, Life Is A Ball started in early 2011 and have now grown into an organisation that works with over 14000 kids.

They are based out of Chennai and operate in Mumbai (3 Schools) and Hyderabad (8 Schools!), and they need you. Yes, you!

Imagine running PT classes for middle schoolers (3rd to 8th std); now imagine doing that for two government schools. That’s what these guys do! And they run an after-school sports program at the third school in Chennai. From lowering school dropout rates to helping kids hone life skills, the difference they make to children’s lives is incalculable.

However being a non-profit organisation they rely on the support of volunteers and donors to function. Enjoy sport and love kids? Sign up as a volunteer and teach kids the sport you love! They have a flexible timetable along with a curriculum for the sports they teach. While the most popular sports are volleyball and football, they are all for getting kids to try out different sports.

If you’re short on time but still feel like helping, check out the “Donate Now” section of their website, and maybe gift a child a football for INR 600.
