What Makes It Awesome

Yes, we're talking about Little Italy. This vegetarian Italian restaurant has been around for over two decades now and has built its name on the authentic Italian fare it serves. While there is a surge in the number of places serving good Italian food, this one still remains a hot favourite. Their 10-page menu may be dizzying and choosing what to order can be tricky if you’ve not been there before, but fret not! Here’s a list of our top five preparations we really liked and recommend.

Bruschetta Al Pomodoro - juicy tomatoes, fresh-baked bread and a tinge of garlic, oregano and olive oil to add flavour. It’s crunchy, tasty and perfect for sharing with a group. In fact, we recommend getting an extra plate to mop up the sauce from the pasta! Little Italy's nachos too are TDF!. Yes, we know it's Mexican but one bite of these here will leave you hungry for more. Served with plenty of cheese and refried beans, the nacho chips are made in house and make for the perfect appetiser.

Zorba is our next favourite pick. A thin crust pizza with fresh tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic, olive oil and olives, this is big enough for two. The flavours are mild and pleasant, and not overpowering - just the dish you need to order if you’re not a fan of spicy food. We also love the Risotto Funghi E Zafferano at Little Italy - a perfect blend between Indian and Italian cooking, this particular risotto, like the Zorba pizza, has few ingredients (rice and mushrooms) and is flavoured with cream, parmesan and saffron. The end product is both creamy and thick, but also firm enough to chew. Yum!

Of course, the last item on our list is their Tiramisu. Italy’s prized dessert, the Tiramisu literally means 'Pick Me Up' and is a must-try at Little Italy. They have two variants of the Tiramisu here - one made with vanilla cream custard and the other with mascarpone cheese. We recommend the latter if you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience. Speaking of authentic Italian, they’re both soaked in rum and coffee and come sprinkled with chocolate powder on top. It is truly the only way we know how to end a meal here.
