Looking for authentic north Indian chaat in Chennai? Then all roads must lead to the Gangotree chain of mithai shops, which can take care of all your sweet and spicy cravings.

What Makes It Awesome

Started on Cathedral Road first, Gangotree soon spread its wings to major parts of the city like Adyar, T Nagar, Express Avenue Mall, OMR, and Anna Nagar. All their outlets maintain the same level of taste and standard and high levels of hygiene. Although there are only self-service options in all its outlets, there is ample place to sit and eat in the shop, and Gangotree has takeaway options too.

Let’s go over to the mithai section first. Whether you are looking to stock up for festivals or just to tuck into mithai late at night, this is where you need to head to. You can pick from rich Kesar Badam Halwa to Mysore Pak and delicious ghee laden laddoos, these guys have it all.

But you cannot not visit without try Gangotree’s popular chaat and snacks.  There’s pani puri, of course, followed by vada pao, bhel puri, and pav bhaji among others. Plus, samosas or kachoris served up with sweet and spicy chutneys. They have big chaat section with everything from raj kachoris to aloo tikki and katori chaat to laccha tokri chaat. All of their dishes are nominally priced with savouries like bhel puri (large servings) starting from INR 70 and pav bhaji at INR 100. We have had the best pani puri and dahi puri experience in the city here by far. Also recommended are their paneer kathi rolls and bhel puri!
