If you are wondering about why there's suddenly an interest in Chandigarh chairs or why cane has quietly made a comeback, it's all because everyone from layperson to an influencer is getting on the vintage meets contemporary design aesthetic bandwagon. But before we jump into the brands that do amazing furniture with cane, rattan and feature wickerwork, here's a quick 101.

Wicker: It refers to natural (or synthetic) grass such as rattan, cane, bamboo or reed that's woven around metal or wood to create wickerwork products.

Rattan: It's a type of palm tree that grows like a tree but falls over and snakes on the ground. Like a huge wooden creeper.

Cane: It's part of the rattan plant and you get it by removing the skin off the rattan plant.

So in the furniture context, not all rattan furniture is cane furniture and not all wicker furniture is cane furniture and not all rattan furniture is wicker.

They are a little bit expensive, but don't compromise on quality.

The Retyrement Plan

Make The Retyrement Plan your go-to brand for upcycled furniture. The brand makes furniture out of materials such as cane, bamboo, and used tyres. One downside to this brand is that they take ages to respond.
