Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Vinyl is making a comeback, but it needs all hands on deck. Based out of Mumbai and at the vanguard of the vinyl revival movement is The Revolver Club, run by Jude de Souza and Parth M Pandya. Thank god for the internet, because record stores are harder to get a hold of these days than liquor barons under investigation. Enter TRC’s vinyl subscription service. At INR 4,497 for three months, you’ll receive what is known as a Stereo Box, containing a brand new record along with some stickers. The records that you’re sent are curated and always a surprise, highlighting new artistes, essential releases and must-have re-issues. If you like the service, you could also subscribe for longer – six months, a year or forever.

On top of that, they’ve got an online store if you’re looking for something specific. Browse through it and you’ll find familiar names like Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, Ed Sheeran, Coltrane, Bonobo, Mos Def, plus motion picture soundtracks and new releases from local artistes. Having grown to be India’s biggest {so they tell us} retailers for vinyl and turntables, TRC also holds listening sessions, gigs and and turntable workshops to keep the culture alive.

The Needle Drop

All those records, but nothing to play them on? No problem. The Revolver Clubs’s got a fine selection of turntables and they range from the inexpensive to professional grade gear for DJing. You’re also going to need some speakers. Luckily, TRC has those, plus a range of amplifiers, home theatre systems and cartridges from brands like Pro-Ject, Denon, Tannoy, Sonos and Olive one. Stereo speakers start at INR 17,500 and go all the way up to INR 49,990.
