The revamped Zambar is airy, bright, and quirks up both the ambience and the food. With A. R. Rahman in the background and quite the Quick Gun Murugun vibe, the food is a representation from coast to coast, with plenty of old favourites and some new kicks.
I loved the aromatic Kaffir Lime Rasam and a Sri Lankan Style Kotthu Roti done just right. The Nano Vada Pao is anything but the Vada Pao, it’s cheesy fondue style presentation actually works with the mini paos {warning: go easy on this if you want to enjoy the rest of the meal}. Love seafood? Try their Prawns Chilly Fry and Mackerel in Reichado masala.
Nothing spells comfort food better than a fresh appam and a soothing hot stew for me. Zambar delivers on this and how! It has a Fluffy Hop Hop Appam Bar that lets you mix and match different kinds of appams with a variety of toppings and serves it with two chutneys. I love the Egg Appam, it works very well with the classic veg stew but just as well with the smoky Achamma’s Mutton Curry. Oh, and the fryums and poppadums are the best part, the pure crunchy magic will take you on a major nostalgia trip.
For desserts, I'd recommend you stick to the Coconut Jaggery Pudding, it's just the right kind of sweet and warm.
