If you are looking for a bit of a change from the gym, check out Tryst Studios’ programmes. They have cardio kickboxing, Tabata workouts, and aerial yoga to start with.

Work It Out

Imagine pushing yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds and then resting for 10 seconds. Sounds easy but when you add eight rounds of that, you’ve got yourself a serious Tabata workout. When we popped in at Tryst Studios on St Mark’s Road, and as is the norm, you attend a trial class before you sign your death warrant. OK, no it’s not that dramatic, but they do urge you to try it out before you sign up, as it can be rather intense. The Tabata workout is a high-intensity interval training {HIIT} workout and is perfect for people looking to add something new to their routine. A typical Tabata workout will feature regular and familiar exercises such as squats, push-ups, and burpees — basically anything that works on your large muscle groups.

'Yogatta' Sign Up

If you are finding this one too much, fear not! Yoga will always be around to rescue you. There are three kinds of yoga for you to try — Hatha, Ashtanga, and aerial. The last one is our favourite because you will be doing all the asanas while suspended in the air. Makes you almost feel like an Olympic-level gymnast, and it does wonders for your core. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s easy though. We also are keen to try their more fun and pumped up workout, called Footloose. Like the name suggests it’s a cardio-centric workout featuring step-aerobics and kickboxing. MMA, Kettlebell Workout, Cross Training, Functional Training, TRX, and S&C complete rest of their workout offerings.

They also have dance classes at the studio, but that comes at extra charges.
