Few things in life are more fulfilling than taking care of a furry little friend. And with miscreants on every street corner, you know how badly our poor urban animals are treated. Stress reduction, unlimited love and plenty of cuddles — nothing sounds better! So if you’re looking to add a new member to the family, check out the best animal adoption centres in the city to find you, your best friend. Team LBB is all about #AdoptDontShop!

Please note that all these centres have adoption forms and formalities that you must complete and pass for successful adoption. We recommend reaching out to these centres and understanding the steps.

CARE

Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre (CARE) started in 2013 as a place where stray and abandoned animals could be housed, given timely medical aid and rehabilitated — this quickly grew into an adoption centre. Charlie, the three-legged in-house therapy dog, is a testament to their rehabilitation. The three trustees have taken up a half-acre in Jakkur for a fully functional animal rescue centre, with another three centres on the way.

With a 9-to-5 ambulance service, medical equipment like OPD and X-ray, a holiday boarding facility and adoption, Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre is a good bet if you are looking to bring home a four-legged friend for life. If you don't have the space or the time, you can also passively adopt as well, and take care of its food and medicines.

They also work towards creating understanding and spreading information about the care and attention these animals need. According to their website, 4861 animals have been adopted and found a furever home. You can also choose between active and passive adoption depending on your capabilities.

Second Chance Sanctuary

Second Chance Sanctuary (SCS) is a charitable trust that works for the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of any dog in need. While currently, Second Chance Sanctuary is more about rescuing, rehabilitating, and fostering, the aim is bigger. The main goal is to sensitise citizens and in fact, as a first in the country, Bengaluru FC and SCS teamed up together where the players walked out with the rescued dogs to raise awareness and honestly, it was the most amazing thing we have seen in ages.
