Whenever you are craving for some spicy Bengaluru style chats, do make it a point to visit this place: Sri Maruti Chats, famous as Thathana Angadi Panipuri (Old man’s Panipuri cart). The place is close to Rajaji Nagar metro station, walkable from Rajaji Nagar 1st block bus stand.
I started visiting this place around 25 years ago. There used to be an old man fondly called as “Thatha”, who used to prepare awesome chats then. Today, his grandchildren have taken over the business. But I must say that the consistency in taste has remained the same even today.
The menu is very simple. 4 items, Masala Puri, Panipuri, Aloo Puri and Bhel Puri are available. You have to be lucky to get a plate of Aloo Puri as it gets over real quick.
Going to this place is a family custom for us. The spicy kick of Panipuri gives hiccups to all of us, and the one who gets hiccups first pays the bill.
